The Minimalist: Exit Stage Right

Today I’m bidding farewell to The Minimalist. It’s been thirteen wonderful years (almost 700 columns.) I may be leaving the Dining section (there might be some return appearances,) but I’m not travelling far. Starting next week I’ll be writing in The Times opinion pages (and in a new blog there as well,) and beginning in March in The Times Magazine (plenty of recipes, most Sundays.) Check back throughout the day for some bonus links.

    Why?? I’ve been a little out of the loop but the Minimalist has always been my favorite and always an inspiration for that minimal change in the kitchen! :) Good luck on the other side.

    I will miss the Minimalist but I’m delighted to see that you will become a much-needed voice for farms and real food in our country. The changes we need are indeed at the political and policy level and it’s quite hard to make ourselves heard! Thank you in advance, for speaking up for us-

    As much as I love the Minimalist column, I am thrilled about the new direction you’re taking. Food policy is the next frontier in this nation’s fight against the growing obesity epidemic and I’m so glad someone with a deep knowledge of food who is widely read and respected is tackling it in a public forum.By the way, a huge THANK YOU for 1) mentioning my blog and recipe in your column on microwave cooking in May 2008, and 2) selecting the recipe as one of your top 25 Minimalist recipes.
